42 Republicans attended the Washington County Republican party meeting Monday, January 23, 2023 at the American Legion in Ft Calhoun. The meeting included a very good question/answer session along with a discussion of legislation introduced during the Nebraska Unicameral’s 108th Legislative session for 2023 with our District 16 State Senator Ben Hansen. Senator Hansen was upbeat about a more conservative group of principled Republican Senators for this session and is looking forward to passing bills that include pro-life/heartbeat bill, school choice bills, overhauling & cutting taxes. The meeting also had a good discussion of the current work to revise the Washington County zoning/planning regulations with Washington Board of Supervisor’s Chair Steve Dethlefs and Washington County Planning Board member Mike Anderson. Many plan to attend the Tuesday, January 24 Washington County Board of Supervisor’s meeting with rejection of the (outside) proposed plan on the agenda. Other elected official in attendence included Washington County Sheriff Mike Robinson, Ft Calhoun Mayor Mitch Robinson, Blair School Board member Courtney Tabor.
